Visual Communication: Studio Brief 3 - Collage

• Building on from my previous approach by applying what I have learned in Visual Language, I wanted to make a natural progression onto collage to imbue further organic, expressive and analogue approaches to my experimentation.
• Again, this tackles the traditional aesthetic of architectural drawings and is far more sweeping and majestic in suggestion rather than static accuracy.
• Can I combine both types of drawing? What would the results be?
• I enjoyed using paper cut again and have really embraced mark-making into my practice despite having difficulties initially during the mark-making and pattern session of Visual Language.
• Am I falling back into a comfort zone and sense of familiarity I have created for myself? Conquered territory that I have visited before and know I can apply without difficulty?
How can I push forward and break out of my comfort zone? What things make me uncomfortable that I want to tackle in the final brief and add to the tools at my disposal? I'm not a fan of photography, can this be used somehow?
• What are the natural next steps in my experimentation? Going to the print room? I have considered mono prints and collagraph...
