Visual Communication: Studio Brief 3 - Tutorial

Reflection
I found my tutorial with Matt really helpful to open up a new set of questions to myself. I'm starting to fall into a lull of revisiting things I already know, such as mark-making, collage and expressive dry brush lines, and while they are all effective for different reasons such as challenging the architectural aesthetic I need to starting pushing myself for this week of experimentation! Consider new techniques and approaches: photograms, more Adobe Illustrator grids and shape responses, photography, looking to organic forms and skins for inspiration, looking at Hadid's movement of Postmodern architecture. What were they trying to do? What were they pushing against? What are the traits and qualities?

• Think of these portraits as album covers. What do you want to show?
• Consider photograms and overlaying images
• Possibly overlay relevant quotes?
• Use Photoshop to build up layers of information and play with layer properties
• Visit to Leeds Discovery Centre to photograph and handle the coral, shells and mushrooms - things Zaha Hadid took inspiration from.
• Consider a postcard with a typology composition of Zaha Hadid's buildings?
• Look at Op-Art further. which I have just discovered through a gallery visit - how do those shapes interact?
• Go beyond what you know and surprise yourself!
