Technical Drawing
• Created in the way of architects when creating blueprints and schematics
• A big challenge for me because of my severe visual impairment
• Didn't feel comfortable using a ruler to draw my lines; I much prefer crafting them with my own hand and combination of pressure and balance.
• I'll always remember a quote from the artist Hundertwasser about how he despises perfect lines and rejected them throughout his practice - instead applying organic spirals to most of his paintings.
• These would be much easier to make in Illustrator but I wanted to push myself using this analogue way of drawing to think like an architect!

• Unfamiliar tools of using a mechanical pencil and ruler - I'm much more used to organic, expressive drawing with my own tone of voice, opinions and ideas to communicate. I no longer try to be accurate so it was a strange return!
Ink Drawing
• Shows the hand of the maker and was much more comfortable for me to do after learning this technique in Visual Language and having previous success with it.
• Gives a more freeform aesthetic and sense of fluidity - matching the organic forms.
• Expressive and emotional lines and contours.
• Not diagrammatic or representational; playful and subjective.

• Not as professional looking or accurate - good or bad thing?
• Could this be used to juxtapose the architectural drawing aesthetic in consideration of my final pieces?

Reflection
I loved challenging the traditional accuracies of architectural drawing and injecting my own individuality and playful tone of voice... In retrospect and upon reflection, however, this does not represent the technical process of Zaha Hadid and I'm not entirely sure if this will go beyond what I have done today. It was a good place to start in terms of my experimentation for this week but I want to surprise myself more than just through drawing. What can I consider next?
